Chairman’s Message

The NH Water Well Board has now been in place for over 25 years. Since the beginning, the purpose of the Board has been to protect the ground waters and the citizens of the State by establishing standards for the construction of wells and the installation of pumps. I feel the past and current members of the Board, by holding contractors accountable, have been very successful at protecting the public against improper well construction and pump installations.

Over the past year or so, the geothermal industry has gained interest and is developing quickly. The Board is determined in its efforts to stay up-to-date and informed regarding this relatively new technology which will provide long-term energy savings to heat and cool the Northeast. In order to protect the ground water, it is vital that the Board be prepared in the event new standards need to be established for the drilling of wells for geothermal use.

With the economy being what it is, good quality work and first-rate customer service have to be top priorities. Repeat business and the benefit of word-of-mouth advertising are essential for a business to survive in today’s economy. Whether the job is big or small, easy or challenging, every customer deserves to be treated with the same respect and honesty you would expect from a contractor. As an industry, we should all strive to properly drill wells and install pumps with the greatest degree of professionalism and customer service.

There will always be some problems that cannot be resolved successfully between a customer and a contractor, resulting in a complaint being formally made to the Water Well Board. This is why the Board was formed, and is still in place today. Unfortunately, each complaint the Board hears costs time and money for every party involved; the customer, the contractor, and the members of the Board.

Therefore, I urge you to be diligent in your efforts to know the rules, follow the rules, do the job right the first time, and make every effort to resolve problems prior to having a complaint made against you. I think we should make it our mission to prove that outstanding customer satisfaction is alive and well in the water well industry. It is a worthwhile goal to strive for.

Respectfully,

Jeffrey Tasker
